Barrette's Small Engines Inc. - SmallEngines.ca FAQ's

Why would oil seem to be dripping from my two-cycle engine muffler?

The dripping of fuel/oil mix from the muffler may be due to several situations. Old or stale fuel (insufficient burn), an incorrect fuel/mix (too much oil), running the unit for an extended period of time at half throttle (insufficient burn ), and/or incorrect fuel mixture settings within the carburetor* may all produce this symptom.

*SERVICE NOTE: Depending on the model, the carburetor settings may be adjusted from outside the carburetor by an experienced technician or it may be necessary to take the carburetor apart for inspection and cleaning. Please consult the engine service manual for instructions on carburetor adjustment and cleaning.
