Barrette's Small Engines Inc. - SmallEngines.ca FAQ's

What is the purpose of the stop lever on the handle?
This lever is a safety feature and controls two engine functions.- When the lever is depressed, an engine grounding circuit is opened which allows the engine ignition system to operate. Also, a brake is released which allows the engine flywheel and cutting blade to rotate.- When the lever is released, the engine grounding circuit is closed which shuts down the ignition system. The engine brake engages the flywheel and prevents further rotation of the engine and cutting blade.
