Briggs & Stratton Acquires Victa Lawncare in Australia

Briggs & Stratton recently announced an agreement, to acquire Victa Lawncare of Sydney, Australia.

Victa Lawncare is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of a broad range of outdoor power equipment, used in consumer lawn and garden applications in Australia and New Zealand. 66% of Victa's sales go through the mass channel, and 24% go through the specialist dealer channel. Victa's total net sales for FY 2008 were approximated at $58 million (U.S Dollars).

"Briggs & Stratton will continue to focus on supplying engines to consumer and commercial power customers in Australia and New Zealand, and Victa Lawncare will continue to manufacture and market, lawn mowers for its customers," said Todd Teske, President and COO.

"The acquisition of Victa Lawncare made very good sense for our business," said Mike Schoen, Senior Vice President." Victa is a very promising company which will bring strong profitability for Briggs & Stratton, as well as bring us closer to our end user customers."

"With our acquisition of Victa, we will be able to offer consumers a more compelling product, and brand offering than we were able to prior to the acquisition."

Victa offers a wide range of end products to meet consumers' needs. A few of their top-sellers include the Razor Mulch or Catch walk-behind mower, the Razor Trimmer, and the Vac & Blow electric.
