New VanguardT Single Cylinder Engines
March 15th, 2010:
This February, Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power introduced four new VanguardT single cylinder engines to the construction industry during the World of concrete trade show in Las Vegas.
The new 5.5 to 10.0 gross HP Vanguard single-cylinder engines feature the innovative TransportGuardT system. During transport, engines are subjected to vibration causing fuel to flow through the engine and into the oil. Fuel in the oil drastically reduces viscosity resulting in more friction, increased wear and shorter engine life.
The TransportGuard system utilizes a single lever to simultaneously shut off fuel and the ignition, eliminating fouled plugs, cylinder wash down, crankcase oil dilution and hydraulic lock. Equipment owners and rental firms ultimately save money by decreased downtime and repair costs.
Based on customer input, the new single-cylinder engines are engineered and built to specifically address extreme working environments and address long-time jobsite challenges including heavy dust, lack of regular maintenance, filtration issues and oil dilution. Briggs & Stratton engineers designed each component and integrated technology to efficiently work together to raise durability and reliability standards.
